Anarchy: an Improvised Rock Opera

Showtime:  Friday, March 13th at 9:15pm ($15)

Anarchy: The Improvised Rock Opera (Chicago) a completely sung, completely improvised rock opera featuring Chicago’s finest musical improvisers. Specializing in long-form narratives showing grounded characters with something to fight for, ANARCHY gets you rocking and ready to fight the power. Established in 2013, ANARCHY has rocked various Chicago stages including The Annoyance, the Second City Training Center, and iO Chicago.

Anarchy started in the fall of 2013 as an idea born from the desire to create a brand new form of musical improv, with roots in modern musicals (including shows like Tommy by The Who, Green Day’s American IdiotRent, and Spring Awakening). Co-Founders Molly Todd, Michael Silver, and Brad Kemp met regularly to dissect rock operas, rock musicals and concept albums. Armed with this knowledge, they assembled their first group or Anarchists. Together, they developed their form into what it is today.
