An Important Message RE: NYMIF 2020
Dear NYMIF Performers,
It is with a very heavy heart that we must share this important message from Magnet Theater Artistic Director, Michael Lutton. Please know that this is the last thing that T.J. or I wanted, but as you all know, these are unprecedented circumstances that are far beyond our control and the safety and well-being of everyone is our first priority. From the bottom of our hearts, we thank you for your time, commitment, talent, support, and enthusiasm and will be in touch again soon as soon as we have a better handle on this situation. In the meantime, stay safe and be well,
T.J. and Robin
In light of new directives from the New York State government, and with New York’s cultural institutions being temporarily shut down, we have come to the conclusion that the best thing we can do to ensure the health of our community is to temporarily close the Magnet effective immediately.
Unfortunately, this means we will have to reschedule NYMIF. We do not make this decision lightly, especially since we have so many guests from out of town already here and excited to go on. This is certainly not the weekend any of us imagined!
All shows for this weekend are canceled, as are workshops at the Training Center. If you signed up for a workshop, our School Director will reach out soon about arranging refunds or possible credits towards future workshops.
Since this is a developing situation, we can’t say when exactly we will be able to hold NYMIF, but as soon as we have new dates we will let everyone know! We sincerely hope you will be able to attend the festival when it is rescheduled. Should the new dates not work for your group, we will arrange to have your application fees refunded, or credit that fee towards NYMIF 2021.
While this situation sucks (a lot!) we do believe it’s best for the health and safety of this community that we all love so much. We look forward to welcoming everyone back to the Magnet as soon as possible because NYMIF is our favorite time of year!
